When booking San Francisco hotel stays, I was determined to stay one night by the Ferry Building for easy access to the Saturday Farmers Market. We have stayed in the Financial District several times and I always enjoy waking up to have breakfast and lunch at the market. It is the highlight of our visits over the years and something that I will not miss.
After much research, I was impressed to find the Harbor Court Hotel which was reasonably priced, located right across from the market and had views of the Bay Bridge too.
In addition to the lovely price tag, they also offer a lot of extras. The front lobby during the day is stocked with ice waters and iced teas. In the morning they have newspapers, coffee, and fruit. From 5-7pm every evening is their happy hour in the lounge where they serve wine and sangria. Late night they have milk and warm cookies.
The hotel is small and boutique with one side facing Embarcadero and the Bay Bridge. The location is rather ideal, being close to public transportation (BART and MUNI) and the Ferry Building. If you are seeking something with easy access to SFO or OAK than you can get that – and a room with a view too!
There are more perks too, such as access to the YMCA, free wifi for Kimpton members, plus free yoga mats and bikes. Also of note, it is a very pet friendly hotel with beds, treats and no fee. All breed allowed, no size limit either.
As is the case with most prime property in a big city, the hotel rooms are small. I would advise splurging for a bay view upper level king room. Then you do not feel cramped and can lounge in the available leopard robe as you gaze out the window with your complimentary glass of happy hour wine.
Our stay at the Harbor Court Hotel was lovely. I do so look forward to returning.
